Councillor James Hawkins was elected as Cessnock City Council’s Deputy Mayor at a Council meeting last week.

Commencing his one year term in October 2014, Cr Hawkins’ responsibilities will include standing in for the Mayor in cases of illness, absence or otherwise.

Cr Hawkins attended the opening of the refurbished Millgang Bridge at Ellalong, saying, “Council’s achieving good things and I hope the good work continues over the coming year.”

“I will continue to support the Mayor and represent the community in my new role”, Cr Hawkins said.

Cr James Hawkins has been a Councillor at Cessnock for six years, and is well known within the local community.
